Captain’s Blog 2017 - My Season So Far #2

Dear Members

Since my last post, in June we held my charity day, and again the support on the day was truly overwhelming, with almost £3000 being raised for my charity the Battle Back Golf Program, I would like to thank my Vice Captain Dave Massey, Past Captain John Oatley, Fred and Sue Worrall, Pam Oatley, Jenny Triggs, Karen Jones [My big sister] and of course my wife Sue for all their help on the day, but most of all, you the members for your outstanding generosity in donations and purchases in the auction items, you are all amazing.

Also in June we had my Captains away days at Telford GC with some 48 members and guests, the golf course was in fantastic condition although the greens were a little tricky for some, not for me I must say. The hotel and food was superb.

A great time was had by all and yet again over the 2 days your generosity with the fines and donations raised an outstanding £490 this really was a weekend to remember for me and I will treasure the memories forever. A big thank you to Jon Briggs for organising the “Briggsy Fiddle” you're a star!

Thank you one and all for a great time.

Recently we held the Club Championship, played over 2 days to determine a gross and net winner. A great turn out on the 2nd day with players and members greeting the final game in.

A huge congratulations to Jack Craven on winning the gross with a gross 148 over the 2 days.

It was nice to see young Jack winning the championship as he has been at Pryors since his junior years and come close on a number of occasions in taking the title, proving that hard work and practice pays off, again WELL PLAYED JACK Truly deserved.

Also congratulations to Rick Smith on winning the net championship with great score of 132 net over the 2 days.

It would be very remiss of me not to mention the condition of the course, it was in fantastic condition with the new 1st green being played for the first time in competition.

Andy and his team deserve all the credit for the work they are doing.

WELL DONE ANDY AND TEAM

The West Cheshire League games since my last blog have been a somewhat mixed bag of results, losing heavily away at Antrobus GC 6-1 and then bouncing back with 5-2 home win against Antrobus GC, the home win has made the final 2 games all to play for in the league with only 3 pts separating 1st and 4th place, so all to play for, I’m sure we can pull it off with 2 victories.😌

I would like to congratulate all winners so far this season with some great scoring, well played all.

The next big occasion is the Battle Back Charity day on July 19th - this is your chance to play amongst true hero’s - places are still available, please contact myself, John Oatley or the shop for availability.

Thank you for reading and good luck to you all in the rest of the golfing season.

See you on the fairways or in the bar.
