Captain's Blog 2017 - My Season So Far

Dear Members

Well, what can I say!

Almost 8 weeks since my Drive-In and the support and gestures of goodwill from all members has been truly overwhelming.

My drive-In was played in glorious weather and supported by over 100 members and to see my drive sail down the middle was a huge relief 😉

I would like to thank Sue and Fred Worrall, Pam Oatley, Jenny Triggs and Lady Vice Captain Karen Jones [my big sister x] for their kind help in the registration and organising of the raffle, Also I would like to thank all members who kindly donated raffle prizes, bought drive pegs, hit my charity bunker on 18 and donated with many more things, thank you all.

With your generosity, we managed to raise over an amazing £1000 for my charity “Battle Back Golf” on the day, again thank you all.

The season is well underway now and the course is in superb condition, with the new tee’s in operation, the new 1st green almost ready to go, much appreciation goes to Head greenkeeper Andy and his team for doing a fantastic job, things are well and truly looking good for the future.

We recently held the Captains May Ball in the new function suite, with over 130 members and guests dining and dancing till late in the evening, the night was a great success and again generosity on the night raised over £500 towards mine and Lady Captain Sherry Shaw charities “Battle Back Golf” & “Cystic Fibrosis” Congratulations goes to Val Couturier on winning £280 in the envelope draw

Well done Val

The West Cheshire League games are also underway, unfortunately, we lost our 1st match away to Heyrose GC 4½ - 2½ in a closely fought match with 3 games coming down to the 18th ... but we bounced back with a 5-2 home win against Sutton Hall GC which was quite amazing as this was played the day after the May Ball with quite a few sore heads at 8.00am on Sunday morning 😌

Also, I would like to congratulate all winners so far this season with some great scoring, well played all.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all on My Captains Charity Day on 3rd June, the signup sheet and details are now on the board, the format is 4BBB registration opens at 7.30am and the Shotgun start is at 8.30am

The Charity Auction will take place after the game, with some fantastic 4 balls, sporting memorabilia and much more.

I will be putting a list of items up for grabs on my notice board in the hallway.

Any donation towards the raffle on the day will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reading and good luck to you all in the rest of the golfing season.

See you on the fairways or in the bar 🍺🍺🍺

Mr Captain
