Seniors section - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We have an active and welcoming Seniors’ Sections within Pryors Hayes GC, with over sixty members but more are always most welcome.

The Section is open to all members* who have reached the age of 55 and our activities include:

•       A competition every Tuesday morning, between 8.00 and 10.30, with typically a medal, two stableford’s and a pairs or team event each month.

•       Summer and winter match-play knockout competitions.

•       Home and away friendly matches with six local clubs.

•       Two Seniors’ Opens, this year on May 12th and August 11th.

•       Two away-days at selected local courses, in Spring and Autumn, with an 18hole competition after coffee, followed by dinner.

In addition to the regular competitions, we compete for five trophies: the Masters (a medal); the Stableford Champion (cumulative scores throughout the summer); the Tom Pollitt (pairs better ball); and summer and winter Match Plays.

To meet the needs and abilities of an age range spanning over 30 years, all competitions are currently played off yellow tees.  Individual events are in two divisions based on handicap, typically 0-18 and 19-54 to equalise numbers.   Partners for all competitions are drawn, allowing you to meet a wide range of members.  (You enter in the BRS booking system in one of three “zones” for an early, mid or late tee time.)

Members pay a subscription, currently £25, for each “half” of the year, in April for the summer programme and October for the winter. This covers entry to all Tuesday competitions and the match-plays (so approximately £1 per competition). These fees, together with income from the Opens, pay for all prizes and a very popular Christmas lunch.

For those who play for the team, there is a small match fee, currently not more than £15 which includes a two’s sweep, raffle and lunch.   Entry to the Opens and Away Days is paid separately.

To join, talk to the staff in the Club shop and they will help you contact one of the organisers, or alternatively just enter in BRS for your first competition and we shall contact you.

No WHS handicap?  No problem. You can play in three of our medals or stablefords to obtain one, then join in all competitions.

*Note - Members on the Flexible Membership scheme are not eligible to play in competitions.
