WHS Changes April 2024

World Handicap System changes that became effective on 1 April 2024.

Course Handicap calculation

The Course Handicap calculation changed so that it is relative to par, making a golfer's target score to play to handicap more intuitive.

The new Course Handicap calculation is adjusted by Course Rating minus Par.

Club competition adjustments

  • White tees: Course Rating 70.2 minus Par 70 = 0.2 added.
  • Yellow tees: Course Rating 67.9 minus Par 70 = 2.1 deducted.
  • Red tees: Course Rating 71.0 minus Par 70 = 1.0 added.
  • Playing Handicaps continue to be calculated in ClubV1 / HowDidiDo.
  • The adjusted Course Handicap is calculated to one decimal place before the relevant competition allowance is applied.

General play / casual rounds

The adjusted Course Handicap will be automatically calculated by ClubV1, HowDidiDo or MyEG when the player signs in. No Playing Handicap Allowances are applied for these rounds.

Updated Course Handicap tables will be displayed at the entrance to the clubhouse.
